How do I get Divorced in Utah?

Our helpful Staff and Court-Approved Mediators will help you through each step of the Divorce Process from Beginning to End.

Let’s take this Step by Step…

Gathering Information

Prior to Your Mediation Day, a member of our Helpful Staff will help you gather the Information you will need to open your case. 

* Information requested will include but not be limited to:

  • Basic Demographic Information
  • Financial Declarations
  • Income for Each Party
  • Income Tax Returns
  • Paycheck Stubs
  • Business Information
  • Real Property and Other Assets

All Information gathered will be held Securely and Confidentially, and will be used to help Generate your Papers to submit to the Court. 

 

Coming to an Agreement

Once you’ve submitted the necessary information you’re ready to Mediate.

Your Mediator will help you discuss what’s important to you. Some of the topics may be but are not limited to: 

  • Determining Custody and Child Care.
  • Calculating Child Support and Alimony (if applicable).
  • Dividing Assets such as Real Property, Automobiles etc. 
  • Planning for Marital Debts
  • Complex Issues such as Business Ownership and Retirement Accounts

Mediation is an Informal atmosphere where both Parties can feel Empowered to contribute to their Overall Agreement. 

Filing Court Papers

Once Both Parties have come to an Agreement, One Source Mediation’s Skilled Staff will help you enter the Court System by:

  • Helping you navigate Utah’s Online Court Assistance Program (OCAP).
  • Generating and Printing a Copy of all your Court Papers and MOU (Memorandum of Understanding).
  • Filing all Necessary Paperwork with the Proper Court District. 
  • Giving you Online access to your OCAP account. 

At the End of the Day, you will have everything you need to complete your Divorce. 

Staying Informed

Now that your Paperwork has been filed with the Court, all that is left to do is wait. During Utah’s Mandatory 30 Day Waiting period our Staff will:

  • Verify with the Court that your Paperwork has been received and in order. 
  • Provide you with your Case Information (Judge’s Name, Case Number, etc.).
  • Communicate Regularly with each party, providing updates on your case.
  • Provide each party with notice and a copy of their Signed Divorce Decree.
